Port Hardy Fishing Charters

Saturday November 14, 2009

I took Steve out to do some steelhead fishing when he came to visit earlier this year (April). Steve asks me, “Is there any steelhead around here?”
Hooking three steelhead in three casts, gave him a little taste of what is available for the winter steelhead fishery, and this was in April.

So Steve decided to come back (July) and see what we could round up in the ocean. This time bringing his son Jake. Knowing that Steve was wanting some “Kings”, we cruised out of Port Hardy looking for the trophy’s.

Driving an hour to troll off a 30 foot rock and not having a bite for the first 45 minutes, Steve was starting to doubt my spot……until this hog hit. Fishing at 37 feet. I couldn’t stop laughing…fishing shallow I think you get a little more play out of your fish. This fish peeled out so much line Steve was quick to tell me “Turn this boat around boy, and chase this fish”.

The bite was turning on. Flood tide was pushing bait into the rock we were fishing.
Both rods “Pop” and we’re into a double header.

Double header with both fish landed. Nice work!

Jakes reels in another one, and has some positive feedback for the Islander Mr3 reel. Claiming the side with the Sage and Islander combo.

Back to the dock in under 8 hours with our limit in spring salmon or “Kings” as Steve would call the.

Washington boys bring their catch to get done up cold smoked and indian candy. Hardy Bouys in Port Hardy (www.hardybuoys.com).
